A Single Red Leaf

A single red leaf clings to a wet rock. The color in the water is reflected from the beautiful trees with golden leaves. A slightly long shutter speed was used to show motion in the water. Taken in the Tremont area of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Fall in the Smokies

So this past Tuesday I went to the Smokies. I only had one day to devote to fall color in east Tennessee so I left my house at 3am in order to be in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park by sunrise. I arrived at this vantage point around 30 minutes before sunrise. This shot encompasses 3 of my favorite things to photograph – East Tennessee, Sunrise, and Autumn

Foggy Morning

So I awoke to some awesome fog on Friday morning. Once I got the kids up and off to school, I grabbed the camera and headed out. Drove around and shot for an hour or so and then I came up on this scene right outside of Murfreesboro. Took a while to get the beautiful horse to pose just right 🙂

Sunset over Nashville

I was passing through Nashville this past Saturday evening so I decided to stop for a photo from the traditional location on the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge. While I think this location is a bit “overdone” for Nashville skyline photos, it works well in a pinch. It’s actually the first time I’ve shot from the bridge in quite a while. So here it is, the Nashville Skyline as the sun sets behind it and the lights reflecting in the Cumberland River.

Cow Field in the Moon Light

Here’s another night scene I photographed in rural Bedford County the other night. The moon was so bright it lit the field up as though it were day. This is a 30 second exposure, the cows were amazingly still 🙂

Night on the Farm

Looks better if you click on it!!! 🙂

So I left the house late Saturday night in search of night scene to shoot. I took off on some back roads in rural Bedford County. Came across a few interesting scenes, shot a little here and there, then I was very excited when I came across this. The barn was sitting in perfect moon light. The North Star just off to the left (just out of frame). So I set up here and shot for about an hour and a half to capture the star trails. No artificial light was used in this scene, everything was completely lit by a very bright moon. Hopefully I’ll be headed out that way soon for some other ideas I found along the way 🙂

Fawn on the Lake Trail

I took a short stroll around Radnor Lake a few mornings ago. This is a shot of a young fawn, probably only a couple of months old, standing in the middle of the Lake Trail. Don’t worry, his mother was not too far off 🙂

White Blaze

Any hikers out there recognize the white blaze? White blazes are used to mark the Appalachian Trail. This was taken on the AT on an incredible evening on Roan Mountain’s Round Bald
