Walter Hill Dam

Walter Hill Dam in Murfreesboro, one of my “go-to” spots in the boro. We’ve had crazy good skies the last few days, I finally got out to shoot some.

Colorful Layers

Mountains, Layers and Colors. You see these types of photos taken many times in the mountains, I always end up taking a few like this when I’m presented the opportunity. The first image was taken from the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina, the last 4 from the  top of Roan Mountain in East Tennessee.

The last bit of light for the evening comes spilling across the mountains and valleys in the Roan Highlands on the Tennessee/North Carolina border.

The Rotunda

Thomas Jefferson’s Rotunda, on the campus of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. I always make it a point to stop by UVa when I’m in Charlottesville.

A rural farm, just outside of Charlottesville Virginia. This is a 6 shot panorama, each a 7 exposure HDR

Rough Ridge

On the Blue Ridge Parkway one morning near Blowing Rock I stopped at one of the many overlooks. From the parking lot, you can hear water running from some small cascades. I looked up and could seed a part of this bridge through the trees so I headed up the trail to check it out completely.

Price Lake at Night

Price Lake at night. This was probably 11:30 at night, but the nearly full moon was so bright it lit the scene as though it were day.

This was taken as an HDR, but instead of changing the shutter speed, I adjusted the ISO in between each photo. Then the 6 resulting photos were merged.

Price Lake is located on the Blue Ridge Parkway, near Blowing Rock, North Carolina

Don’t forget that you can vote for me for a Ruthies Award! You can vote everyday for the month of August! Check it out HERE!!!

Sunset from Humpback Rock

If you look closely at nearly the center of the photo, there is an opening in the trees. That’s the Blue Ridge Parkway and the entrance to the parking area for the hike up to Humpback Rock. It’s quite a hike, 2 miles uphill the entire way. But they view at the top is worth every step. Both sunset and sunrise can be seen from the rocks.

Rural Nights

I’ve photographed this barn before, but as soon as I found out that no one lived on this farm (its for sale for a cool $7 mil) I knew I wanted to get back at night time. This is only about 20 minutes worth of star trails, after that my lens began to fog up from the dew. The barn is lit with a hand-fired flash.

This photo can be purchased as a print HERE – feel free to look around at the others while you are there 🙂
