Yosemite Valley

This is the view of Yosemite valley from Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park. Let’s hope the current wildfire in this area is soon contained! This was taken in early June, currently this area is still untouched from the “rimfire” that is threatening Yosemite.

The Golden Gate Bridge at Sunrise

The title says it all 🙂

Half Dome and a Rainbow

So how much longer can I continue to post photos from California? New people to this blog may think I’m a west coast photographer, so I may need to get out and shoot some good old fashioned Tennessee landscapes again soon.

This is photo is a shot of the famed Half Dome in Yosemite National Park. As we watched the sun shine onto large storm clouds in the east, a small rainbow appeared in the distance. This was taken the same evening as my other Yosemite sunset photo HERE

Pigeon Point Lighthouse in Fog

Could there be a time where a lighthouse is needed more? Actually, I’m not real sure it was very effective in this weather. I was standing pretty close to it (shot with a fairly wide angle, 24mm) and I could barely see the it. Any further away and it would have been completely concealed in the fog. Although I guess that with GPS and radars that lighthouses are not that important anymore.

Anyways, this is Pigeon Point Lighthouse in California. You can find it right on the coastal highway near Pescadero. This is a slightly different angle than what I posted previously.

California Redwoods

Looking up at the California Redwoods in Muir Woods, just outside of San Francisco

Dancing Squirrel

Don’t feed the squirrels in California, it makes them do weird things…  🙂

Bixby Bridge

Another iconic “Big Sur” location is Bixby Bridge. I stopped here just after sunset to shoot this. I couldn’t decide which side I liked better, what do you think? Click here to see the shot from the other side

Pfeiffer Beach Waves

Even though it was cold, I loved sitting there and watching the waves crash in over the rocks.

This one was taken on Pfeiffer Beach in Big Sur

San Francisco in Morning Light

This is the view of San Francisco from Battery Spencer, an old battery that you can walk around. There are great views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, and the San Francisco skyline from there. It was very hazy that morning which actually provided beautiful light.

This was taken with the 100mm 2.8L

Tunnel View – Yosemite National Park

I think this was the best view in that park (at least the areas that we drove through). All day long there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, finally they started to build and gave some added interest to the scene here. On the right is Bridalveil Falls (I think).

This is two horizontal photos stitched together, taken with the 100mm 2.8L lens. With the wide angle lens, everything seemed just too far away.
