This Week at the Lake – 32/52
/2 Comments/in Fall, Great Blue Heron, HDR, Nashville, Tennessee, Radnor Lake, Scenic/Landscape/Waterscape, Shallow Depth of Focus (DOF), Sunset/Sunrise, Tennessee State Parks, This Week at the Lake, Wildlife /by MalcolmWhat a tough week to pick a lead shot, I wanted to put all of these first! Tuesday and Wednesday morning were both stormy/rainy which made for some great HDR conditions. Here are some others from those two mornings:
A couple of other non-hdr from Wednesday morning:
Who says turtles are slow!? This guy was moving quickly across the path
The sun was back out in full force on Thursday. I spent my entire lunch break there trying to capture a leaf in mid air falling from a tree. It took around 100 shots but I finally got this one:
Not exactly the composition I wanted but I am more than happy to settle for it! A very tough shot to get…
I went back Friday at lunch and just wanted to capture some fall color:
And that’s it for the week!
Thanks for looking!

Only a Couple in Texas
/1 Comment/in HDR, Night, Skylines, Sunset/Sunrise /by MalcolmI was recently in the areas of Dallas and Austin Texas. It was my first time in Texas so even though it was a business trip, I brought my camera. Unfortunately (as I assumed would happen) I did not have time for photography. Not even our hotels were very interesting. I never even saw the Austin skyline until I was on the way to the airport to leave. I spent most of the days in conference rooms and the afternoons touring houses (I work for a home builder Drees Homes)
The only chance I got was after dinner on Monday in Irving, Texas (just out side of Dallas). The skies looked great so I walked across the street from the hotel and found an office building to include in the photos:
The next morning I got these from the window of my hotel room:
The skyline in the far distance on the left is, I believe, Dallas
Austin really seems like a great city, I would love to visit again with my family when I can spend time doing photography…..
Stormy Tuesday
/2 Comments/in Black and White, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Photo Adventures, Scenic/Landscape/Waterscape /by MalcolmOn my way home from work yesterday, July 13, I stopped to get a few shots of a rain storm.
You could actually see where it was raining and which direction the storm was moving. I sat and watched it move left to right in front of me.
I pulled out the zoom lens for this one. The sun was setting behind me and was not obstructed by clouds so the light on the green farm was amazing! It really made the green glow against the dark bluish gray sky
